The Virginia Tech Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) chapter aims to support and advance the career development of the LatinX STEM community at Virginia Tech. Our goal is to help our members become better leaders and well-rounded professionals. Students of all backgrounds and fields are welcome to join. SHPE offers various resources to its members in the forms of academic and professional workshops such as sponsored presentations, resume reviews, mock interviews, and networking events.

In addition, SHPE at VT makes it their goal to give back to the community by organizing service events through our outreach community, uniting the graduate and undergraduate student bodies, providing academic scholarships, and focusing on the development of women leaders in STEM through our SHPEtinas program.

Furthermore, our student government makes it possible for these operations and events to function by communicating with sponsors, planning bi-weekly general body meetings, and preparing for our annual SHPE National Convention. We seek to fill in gaps and take down barriers that have historically made it difficult for our community to compete in the workforce so that we produce high-quality applicants, reinforced with the knowledge that La Familia is there to support at every step of the way.
